Imago @ Loughborough Ltd, T/A Imago Venues, is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Loughborough University and is governed by a board of directors consisting of representatives from the University and across industry.
Its Senior Management team is led by Chief Executive, Kay England, who has been with the company since its inception. She is supported by Head of Sales & Marketing, Emma Boynton, Head of Venues, Keith Barber, and Head of Finance, Vivienne Wardle.
Chief Executive, Kay England
Kay has been with the company since it started in 1991 as Loughborough University's Short Course Centre, trading as Burleigh Court. Starting off as Business Development Manager, she created the team of sales staff and was responsible for all sales income and expenditure for the business. In 2002, Kay became Chief Executive and oversaw the expansion from a 100 bedroom conference centre to the £multimillion organisation we are today. In 2014, Kay also became Director of Campus Services at Loughborough University, where she is responsible for 18 halls of residence (6,000+ bedrooms), catering, retail operations, domestic services, sports grounds/gardens and sustainability.
Kay is also a Board Director and Chair of the Meetings Industry Association (MIA), Venues of Excellence (former Chair) and formerly on the Board of the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC).
Head of Sales & Marketing, Emma Boynton
Emma has over 20 years' experience in the events services sector having served as Conference Sales Manager for Linton Lodge Hotel and Business Development Manager for 5 MacDonald Hotel properties, before joining Imago in 2002. Emma also served as a Director and then Chairman of the Board of Directors for Venuemasters (now known as Academic Venue Solutions) between 2008 - 2010. Emma heads up a team of twenty sales office staff covering Business Development, Revenue Management, Marketing, Enquiry handlers and Reservations teams. Emma is responsible for generating all sales income from meetings, conferencing and events for the Imago Venues portfolio.
Head of Venues, Keith Barber
After cutting his teeth as Banqueting Manager at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, Keith joined Imago as Assistant Restaurant Manager at Burleigh Court in 2003. Since then, Keith's passion and creativity has seen him climb up through the ranks to manage operations at Holywell Park Conference Centre and Cafe, The Link Hotel and Loughborough University Cafe and shops. Following a restructure of the management team in 2017, Keith became Head of Venues for all of the Imago portfolio, giving the company a unified direction and consistency of service delivery across all venues. Keith is also responsible for the operational delivery of our brand new facility - The Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel.
Head of Finance, Vivienne Wardle
Viv has also been with the company since our early days as Loughborough University Short Course Centre. Starting in 1997, she has been with Kay on the journey to grow Imago in to the £multi million organisation we are today. Starting out as Finance Assistant, Viv soon qualified as Management Accountant in 2001 and has seen her role develop and grow with the business. She heads up a small and dedicated team of staff who are responsible for everything from payroll, purchasing and invoicing through to management accounts and budgeting.
Having such a stable Senior Management team who have been with the company for so long, gives us a consistency in delivering excellent customer service and a unique ability to remain true to our company values, whilst also driving forward a programme for continuous improvement.
