Leading conference centre and hotel celebrates triple win
Gold, Silver and Bronze for imago at the 2009 East Midlands Tourism Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The sound of champagne corks popping can be heard all over Loughborough this week as imago, the leading conference and events business based at Loughborough University, continues to celebrate after picking up Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the 2009 East Midlands Tourism Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The awards ceremony which is considered to be the Oscars of the tourism industry, held at Leicester’s Athena on the 8th October, saw imago receive the gold award in the Access for All category, silver in the Large Hotel and bronze in the Sustainable Tourism categories. The awards recognise businesses that have excelled in providing a first class experience for visitors.
Kay England, Chief Executive of imago at Burleigh Court and Holywell Park, said: “These awards recognise the hard work our whole team puts into making imago a top class destination across all three of our venues. Coming home with awards in all of the categories we entered is testament to our continued efforts to improve service in all areas, from making sure all our buildings are accessible for all to introducing new initiatives to make us as sustainable as possible – and that’s on top of the four star services we deliver to hotel guests on a daily basis. We’re looking forward to the national finals and hope to do the East Midlands proud!”
Martin Peters, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, added: “This is a very proud achievement for the tourism industry in Leicester and Leicestershire. The destination’s performance in these awards goes from strength to strength and is further proof that our commitment to quality is being recognised by both visitors and our industry.”
As a regional gold winner, imago will now go forward to the national finals in April 2010 where they will compete against other winners from across England for a chance of being crowned ‘England’s Best’.
