Earlier in the year members of the imago food and beverage team visited the new Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea to attend an annual wine tasting hosted by Bibendum, one of the UK’s largest independent wine companies with over 900 wines in its portfolio. Alun Pomfrett, Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Burleigh Court: “This provided a great platform in which to meet wine produces from all over the world. imago were keen to investigate new world wines as they represent what we believe is fresh, vibrant and sustainable products that offer the best value for our customers. This season, Alun recommends: “The most interesting and best value for money would have to be CARO which is a collaboration between chateau Lafite (one of the most famous houses in Bordeaux) and Catena whose creature Nicolas Catena won Decanter’s Man of the Year 2009 (“Decanter has chosen Nicolas Catena Man of the Year 2009, crediting him with changing the direction of Argentina’s wine industry…”) It is a blend of the popular cabernet sauvignon and the ever so trendy malbec. The high altitude vineyards of Catena are said to improve the concentration of age defying antioxidants. This bottle may not be good for your wallet but its controversially good for your health! Caro is featured on the Chancellors Cellar selection available at Burleigh Court.
